Noticing beauty and kindness around you is so vital. I was collecting travel-size toiletries from a hotel for a local charity that helps children that are homeless or precariously housed and I looked up while waiting on someone from hotel housekeeping to meet me and I looked up and saw this delight. I love these kinds of lights... their shape and the pattern that the texture makes... and to see them grouped together made me take pause and put a big smile on my face. Don't forget to look up and all around you to notice those small things of beauty - maybe a gardens, a stranger's smile, a teacher's encouragement, or the way the light falls through curtains at a certain time of day.
Late December and January were filled with illness for myself and my kids. The kind that require multiple trips to the doctor, two rounds of antibiotics, and new inhalers (for my daughter). I didn't exactly start of the year the way I intended to. In fact, one of my January goals - the painting ones - were not met at all.
I'm AM the kind of person that makes goals and intentions for the new year. I love fresh slates, but I'm flexible enough to realize that life happens and that fresh slates and fresh starts can happen at any time, whether it be with a new year, new month, new day, or the next hour.
So February is MY fresh start! :D
I seem to not have many goals this year... or at least not very new/exciting/different ones from last year. When I look at my list it actually looks rather boring, but maybe that's just me. When my kids returned to school in the Fall, I focused more of my time and energy on getting back into high intensity workouts and I've been doing great with that and that's what I hope to be able to continue to do! Cathe Live and Cathe's ICE DVD series have been superb tools in this area and helped get me ready to start doing the advanced DVDs again. I just completed a Cathe Live rotation that I created. Initially, it was a 6-week program but I was having so much fun that it ended up being a 10-week rotation. I did end up missing two days of it due to a sinus infection but given how long I had the "nastiest cold ever", even that is a miracle!
A new Dreama Tolle Perry online oil painting class started about a week ago - Once Upon a Time in Provence - and I'm happy to say that I'm back to painting again. Not every day, because I also started subbing in the school system, the garage door broke and I currently can't get my car out of the garage and someone should be coming by today to repair it, and my increased volunteering... but I paint when I can.
I realize that I haven't posted my One Little Word for 2017, but that's okay. I chose the word last November... or rather, it chose me... as those sneaky words seem to do more and more often as the years go on. I'll be sharing it with you in the future.
Have you chosen a One Little Word or any goals for the upcoming year?
